How to run a pilot session in your church or community

A pilot session is different from a taster session: A pilot session is a trial run that takes place just a week or two before you begin the proper Sycamore sessions. You can plan it and run it exactly as you would want to run your proper sessions.

A pilot session is different from a taster session.

The taster session takes place even before you have the team formed to help you enthuse your community and build a team.

  • A pilot session is a trial run that takes place just a week or two before you begin the proper Sycamore sessions. You can plan it and run it exactly as you would want to run your proper sessions. It gives a chance for the whole team to see how things are working, and to tweak things if necessary, so that the first real session is less nerve wracking.
  • A pilot session is also a way of “showcasing” Sycamore to committed members of your community, so that they can get behind the project, and be encouraged to invite friends. It takes away the mystique and helps them to be enthusiastic about inviting friends. In this sense, the pilot session is acting as a “taster” session for the wider community just before the real course starts.

HOW TO RUN A PILOT SESSION

Just run it as you would a normal session – including food! See the “Basic Timetable for an Enquiry Session” here.
