This website and the Sycamore films themselves are available in multiple languages.
Sycamore is already being used in many countries that do not use English as their first language. We hope that non-English speakers will be able to use the Sycamore resources and run the programmes wherever they are.
Scroll down to find out about (1) translating the website, (2) subtitles in your language, (3) audio dubbing in your language, (4) specialist information per country, (5) using subtitles with dowloaded films.
We have not yet translated all the films, but we hope to launch new translations over the coming months.
You can auto-translate the whole website into 27 languages using the language button at the top of the page:

If you can’t find your own language then use the language translator within your own browser.
The subtitles of the Sycamore films have been translated into many languages. To use the subtitles:
- Start playing the film that you wish to watch.
- Then click on the SETTINGS/GEAR icon in the bottom right of the screen, and click on the “CC/subtitles” option that pops up:
- This will give you various language options. Choose the one you need.
- You can then use the [cc] button to switch the subtitles off or on.
Please note: The languages marked “CC” (“closed-caption) were manually translated for Sycamore by native speakers. They are generally very reliable and have been manually checked. The languages marked “autogenerated” were created by Vimeo AI, and they may have some mistakes. We are not able to manually check and correct these at present, but we offer them in the hope that an imperfect translation is better than no translation at all.
The audio on the Sycamore films has been auto-dubbed into many languages using Vimeo AI. To switch languages:
- Start playing the film that you wish to watch.
- Then click on the SETTINGS/GEAR icon in the bottom right of the screen, and click on the “Audio” option that pops up.
- This will give you various language options. Choose the one you need.
Please note: The auto dubbing is generated by Vimeo AI from the autogenerated English subtitles. These English subtitles may have some mistakes (they may not match exactly the audio), and the translation from English may also have some mistakes. We are not able to manually check and correct these at present, but we offer them in the hope that an imperfect translation is better than no translation at all.
Some language information is country-specific, and specialist advice has been provided for users in some countries, including links to local Sycamore resources, and manual translations of the discussion questions for the core films.
